Investment

What would give the most profitable return one could invest in?

Most of us would like a new car, or to own a home, have a bigger house or investment properties.  But as we acquire more and more of these items are we really happy?  Often people who possess all these material items have a need to continually acquire in order to give themselves a ‘feel good’ fix.  Whilst something is new for a period they feel happy.  But as the novelty wears off and their purchases become everyday items that they then begin to take for granted, they lapse back into dissatisfaction again.  And so the cycle continues.

Spirit presented me with this question years ago, and in their wisdom said:

  Humanity

This was proven to me when after the Bali bombings. World Vision later ran a series of ads in which they presented Dr Steven.  Dr Steven is an Indonesian native.  Steven was fortunate enough to have been sponsored by a good hearted person years ago to enable him to have an education.  Now this good energy has been returned by helping the many Australians who suffered in the atrocious Bali terrorist bombings.

So before you think about buying your next CD, pair of fashionable shoes, trendy pants, or whatever new superfluous item you see in a glossy catalogue; think about what you can do for humanity.  Each donation you make towards sponsorship is tax deductible.  It will only cost $35 per month, or $420 for a year.  If it comes out of your credit card each month, it will be just like any other purchase you make.

Below is a picture of the charming little girl I sponsor through World Vision.

Close your eyes and image for one moment: that living in poverty in a remote third world country, is a young child scrounging for food in order to survive.  This child has a brilliant mind, and given the opportunity to develop it with an education could grow up to become a scientific researcher who discovers the cure for AIDS, or whatever new viruses and diseases lie in the future.  Then consider that one day you may know of someone who falls ill and could benefit from this persons’ discovery.  What a terrible tragedy this would be if this child never grew to its full potential which the whole of humanity could benefit from.  How much longer would we have to wait for this missed opportunity to present itself to mankind again.  Meanwhile many suffer.

As the distinguished American President John F. Kennedy delivered in his 1961 speech:

Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.

I firmly believe that if more people open their hearts today, in whatever measure, there will be less heart disease in the future.  The film Pay it Forward gives us an insight to what is possible if we are unafraid to share ourselves with others.  If you notice a friend, family member or neighbour is not coping, don’t judge or criticise them because they aren’t doing things your way or as well as you, instead ask them what you can do to assist make their life’s load a little easier.  Remember, we are all on this journey together.  Separateness is merely an illusion.  And we are all learning from each other.  Even those who appear to oppose us are likely acting out their higher-self promise as spiritual teachers to assist us in our personal development and spiritual evolution.
